MCF ASKS MCLEAN RESIDENTS FOR THEIR COMMUNITY PRIORITIES

Foundation launches a survey on their web site for local project ideas

April 12, 2007 - McLean, VA - The McLean Citizens Foundation, charitable arm of the McLean Citizens Association, is asking for residents to share their thoughts on future projects for the community. As of June 1st, a 14-question survey will be posted on the MCF web site - www.mcleancitizensfoundation.org - throughout the month of June seeking the opinions of local residents. A postcard mailing will alert residents in 22101, 22102, and 22043 zip codes to the web-based survey.

"We've been funding grants to effective community organizations for more than 25 years," said Trish Butler, President of MCF. "But our charter also allows us to fund an independent project. We hope the survey responses will give us a sense of what the community thinks are priorities. Perhaps residents will give us a big project idea to benefit all or most of McLean."

The MCF has given grants totaling more than $950,000 since 1981 when it was created and endowed with the proceeds of donated land. Recipients have included a wide range of non-profit organizations in the McLean Planning District. Recent MCF grants have helped to fund needed rescue equipment for the McLean Volunteer Fire Department, the Fun & Fitness pavilion at Clemyjontri Park, the restoration of the Burke Spring House, and seeds and a greenhouse for Churchill Elementary School's Outdoor Odyssey experiential learning program. Grant cycle deadlines for non-profits seeking funds are February 1 and October 1.
